Training: Practical entrepreneurship based on the Business Model Canvas and validation of findings in the field in Jordan

Last week, our colleague Lisa was in Jordan to give the Nuffic training: Practical entrepreneurship based on the Business Model Canvas and validation of findings in the field. The participants were mainly from the University of Jordan and came from all over the country to train in Amman at the University’s Faculty of Agriculture.
As the title implies, the training aimed at fostering a pro-active entrepreneurial mindset by practical application of models and theory in the field.
The training focused on the development of entrepreneurial skills and knowledge by continuing with the Business Model Canvas methodology taught in the CINOP training given earlier this year. After this training, there was still a need for practical experience on how to translate theory to practice. Therefore, Q-Point worked with the participants on practical entrepreneurial skills, incl. field visit and field research to validate assumptions made the Business Model Canvas.

What this meant? Lots of interaction, live consumer research in one of the biggest shopping malls in Amman and group challenges on the topics: smart financial management (how to reduce costs etc.) and creative marketing strategies (using the marketing mix) and risk management.

As a result, the participants now know how to:
– Empower (female) students by learning them entrepreneurial and critical soft skills;
– Understand the challenges in setting up a business and identify real market opportunities;
– Discover and validate assumptions and ideas in the field;
– Help students with creation of viable business models;

A special thank you to Jamal Sawwan and Seba Al Jamal for the great facilitation of the training. Thank you all for the great and inspiring week!
