New office Q-Point
In September 2018, Q-Point has opened its regional office for East Africa on the premises of one of its successful projects: The Centre of Excellence for Livestock Innovation and Business (CoELIB) in Nakuru county, Kenya. This new location strengthens the local presence of Q-Point in East Africa and is in line with our goal to empower public and private stakeholders to take control of agricultural development through relevant, high-quality and innovative consultancy.
Why?
Increasing demand for our services in the East African region sparked the decision to open a regional office. This gives us direct access to a large pool of agri-food companies in Kenya’s agribusiness region that we can use to fuel the continued growth of Q-Point. It also allows us to strengthen our service capabilities in the fast-growing agri-food market in the region and to establish efficient and effective public-private-partnerships within the sector. Moreover, through our local presence we can effectively promote innovation in the agri-food sector through a Triple Helix approach, using our strong international network with educational institutions, industry and governments.
Project activity Q-Point
Over the past few years, Q-Point has been leading in a large number of projects financed by RVO (Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs), EP-Nuffic and IFC with a focus on institutional development of governmental organisations such as Ministries, Inspection Bodies and NGOs in the agri-food and water management sector. Since 2009 Q-Point has been involved in 32 relevant projects in East Africa in the EP-Nuffic NICHE, OKP, TMT, WB/IFC and RVO K2K programmes.
Due to these projects Q-Point has built a strong link with universities, TVETs and incubation centres in Kenya, e.g. South Eastern Kenya University, Pwani University, Egerton University, Bukura Agricultural College, Kenya School of Agriculture and the Centre of Excellence for Livestock Innovation and Business (CoELIB).
